Baxter 2
BAXTER.

Adorable, gentle but shy.

Welcome BAXTER. Four year old black boy, BAXTER is a bit of a nervous nellie at the moment. He can be timid in his kennel and a bit skittish at the start of walks, but give him a chance, take him for a walk and you can see that he is happy to interact and really wants to be brave.

BAXTER is a dog that will blossom in a home environment with its routines, its familiar faces, gentle walks and a comfy space to sleep.

BAXTER is a wonderful, gentle walker on the lead. You wouldn't know he was on the other end!! He is not too big and has an elegance and lightness to his step. He is just lovely.

BAXTER has jewel like amber eyes and a way of looking at you that makes you feel all smooshy. The slight frosting on his face makes him even more adorable. BAXTER is great around the other greyhounds, so might like to have a kind doggy pal in his new home.

He walks well with either boys or girls and is sweet natured. He is nice on the lead and fairly easy to walk. On spotting a rabbit in the woods, BAXTER did not seem overly fussed. A good sign!

BAXTER at the park:

BAXTER was confident jumping into and out of the car to go to the park. On arrival, he jumped out but was holding back and reluctant to walk at first.

BAXTER is a sensitive soul who responds to gentle encouragement to walk on when he suddenly stops, which he did on a few occasions e.g. when people passed and traffic passed him. He then continues to walk on. BAXTER can be a bit jumpy with unexpected movement. He also was looking back as he was walking, just a wee bit worried.

BAXTER become animated when he saw a black dog running around and he was walking quickly towards it, at speed. He saw a corgi cross approaching and was very interested to meet, but the corgi was backing away from him. BAXTER did try to sniff. The owners attempted to greet him, but he jumped back away from them.

BAXTER is timid and he will need lots of positive experiences and reinforcement. He is a boy who wants to be brave but might need a bit of time to adjust to life outside of kennels. In fact, the move to a stable, loving home will probably be the making of him. Life in a busy kennel will not. BAXTER’s adopter should be prepared to go at his pace to give him the time and space to settle into his new life.

All signs show that BAXTER will make someone a super, gentle companion. He is a true gentleman.
